Image enhancer
This image enhancer makes a small or soft photo larger and sharper with AI, right in your browser.
Good to know
What the photo enhancer improves
The enhancer redraws the photo at twice its size (or four times, in the settings). Edges come out crisp and the blocky patches of a heavily compressed JPG are smoothed. Very fine texture, such as wood grain, can come out smoother than in the original.
- Photos saved small for a website or a chat app.
- Old photos scanned or kept at a low size.
- Screenshots and pictures that look soft when shown larger.
What it leaves as it is
It does not change colors, light or framing. For a dim or yellowish product photo, “Fix light and color” in Remove Background or Marketplace Photos corrects that; for framing, use Crop.
How large a photo it takes
The enlarging runs on your device, so the limit depends on it. Photos larger than this are refused with a note, before any work starts.
- Computers with a current Chrome, Edge or Safari: photos up to 2,000 px on the longest side, so up to 8,000 px at 4×. It runs on the graphics chip, which is fast.
- Phones, tablets and browsers without WebGPU: photos up to 800 px on the longest side. It runs on the processor, which is much slower.
- Photos are enlarged one at a time, the others wait their turn.
Questions
Is an image enhancer the same as an upscaler?
Here, yes: both make the photo larger with AI, which is what makes it look sharper. Use 2× when the photo needs to be about twice as large, and 4× for a very small one.
Can it unblur an image?
A little: soft edges and compression blur get sharper. A photo blurred by shaking or by focusing on the wrong spot can’t be made sharp, because the detail was never captured.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser, so your photos stay on your device. They aren’t uploaded. That includes the AI.
Is PixListing free?
Yes. PixListing is free to use and needs no account. On the free plan you can add up to 30 photos at once, 50 MB each.
