Blur the background of a photo
Blur the background and keep the subject sharp, like a portrait-mode photo. Choose how strong the blur is.
Good to know
How it works
An AI model finds the subject, a person, a pet or a product, on your device. The rest of the photo is blurred, and the subject is put back on top, sharp.
- The “Blur” slider sets how strong it is; the same setting looks the same on a small or a large photo.
- The subject’s own colors stay out of the blur, so no colored halo appears around it.
- An edge the AI got wrong, such as hair or a handle, can be fixed with “Edit cutout”.
- The result is a JPG at the photo’s full size, unless you turn on “Crop to the product”.
When a blurred background helps
- A busy room or street behind a portrait.
- A product photo taken at home, where the shelf or table behind it draws the eye.
- A profile picture, so the face stands out.
Questions
Is this the same as portrait mode on a phone?
It looks similar. A phone measures depth when the photo is taken; here the AI finds the subject in a finished photo and blurs everything else evenly.
Can I blur several photos at once?
Yes, up to 30 photos per batch on the free plan, 50 MB each, all with the same blur.
Does it work on my phone or tablet?
Yes, in a lighter mode: the AI looks at the photo in less detail, so it uses less memory. It downloads the same 45 MB model once and can take longer than on a computer; fix any soft edge with the brush.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser, so your photos stay on your device. They aren’t uploaded. That includes the AI.
Is PixListing free?
Yes. PixListing is free to use and needs no account. On the free plan you can add up to 30 photos at once, 50 MB each.
