Why convert HEIC to WebP?

WebP opens in every current browser and makes small files, so iPhone photos load quickly on a website or blog. Many sites can’t show HEIC at all.

Before you convert

  • The quality is set to 90 by default; lower it in Settings for an even smaller file.
  • Camera details and location are not carried into the WebP, since the picture is saved again.
  • WebP images can be at most 16,383 pixels on a side, far more than any phone photo.

Questions

Is WebP or JPG better for my iPhone photos?

For a website you run, WebP: it is usually smaller at the same look. For email, upload forms and older apps, JPG: it opens everywhere.

Is PixListing free?
