Flip an image
Flip an image to mirror it left to right, or top to bottom. Useful for selfies, text that reads backwards, or a picture that should face the other way.
Good to know
When to flip
- A selfie the front camera saved as a mirror image: flip it horizontally and writing on a shirt reads the right way.
- A product or a person facing out of the page: flip so they face the text next to them.
- A photo taken in a mirror, or through glass from the other side.
Horizontal or vertical
Horizontal swaps left and right, as a mirror on a wall does. Vertical swaps top and bottom, as a lake reflects a hill. Both together look the same as turning the photo 180°.
Questions
Is flipping the same as rotating?
No. Rotating turns the photo around its middle, and writing stays readable. Flipping makes a mirror image, so writing reads backwards.
