Why Etsy photos get rejected

Etsy shows listing photos as 4:3 thumbnails in search. Photos in other shapes get cropped, which can cut off the product in the first thing shoppers see. Photos with the shortest side under 2,000 px also lose the zoom feature.

Choose “Keep whole photo” to fit the entire product with white space added, or “Fill the frame” to crop evenly to 4:3.

Frequently asked questions

Do Etsy photos need a white background?

No. Etsy allows lifestyle photos. For lifestyle shots, turn off “Center product on white” and use “Fill the frame”.
