Why compress to 20KB?
Some application portals limit photos and signatures to 20KB. A phone photo is usually several megabytes, so reaching 20KB normally also means making the image much smaller in pixels.
How the 20KB target is reached
- Quality is lowered until the file is 20KB or less, never below quality 30.
- If that is not enough, the image is scaled down step by step; the final dimensions are shown.
- 20KB is counted with 1 KB = 1,000 bytes, so the file also passes forms that count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes.
Frequently asked questions
Can every image be compressed to 20KB?
Most can. Large or very detailed photos are scaled down to reach 20KB, and you see the final dimensions. If a file still can’t reach it, you get the smallest result and a note.
Is PixListing free?
Yes. PixListing is free to use and needs no account. Files can be up to 25 MB, 20 images per batch.
