How the FBA fee is found
From Amazon’s US fee table for 2026, last checked 12 October 2026. The packed item’s sides and weight give its size tier: the first tier whose limits it meets. Then the fee goes by its shipping weight, the price column (under $10, $10 to $50, over $50) and the date.
Shipping weight is what the packed item weighs or its dimensional weight (length × width × height in inches ÷ 139), whichever is more; Small standard uses what it weighs. From 15 October 2026 to 14 January 2027 Amazon charges its holiday peak fees, and the calculator uses them on those days. A 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge is added to the fee. Clothing uses Amazon’s apparel fees.
Amazon measures your item when it arrives, and its Revenue Calculator shows the fee it will charge: you can enter that fee instead. Shipping orders yourself? Leave the size and weight empty and enter your shipping cost.

How the fees add up
A $25 item in Home and Kitchen pays a $3.75 referral fee (15%). Packed in a 12 × 9 × 3 in box weighing 1.1 lb, it is Large standard, 2.33 lb shipping weight (dimensional weight, more than the 1.1 lb it weighs): a $6.10 FBA fee, $6.31 with the surcharge. Amazon keeps $10.06.
If the item costs you $8, you keep $6.94, a 28% margin. On the Individual plan, each item sold adds $0.99.
What this calculator leaves out
- The Professional plan’s $39.99 a month, which is the same however much you sell.
- FBA storage, inbound placement, low-inventory-level, bulky packaging, removal and returns processing fees, and the SIPP discounts.
- FBA fees for dangerous goods, which have their own table.
- Referral fee waivers and incentives for new brands.
- Sales tax: Amazon collects it from the buyer and it is not part of the referral fee.
- Selling in Amazon stores outside the US, which have their own fees.
- Fine Art, Gift Cards and Merchant Fulfilled Services, which have their own rates.

Does Amazon charge the referral fee on shipping?
Yes. The referral fee is a share of the total sales price, which includes the shipping and gift wrap the buyer pays.
What is the minimum referral fee?
In most categories $0.30 per item: when the percentage would come to less, you pay $0.30. Grocery, Media, Video Games, Video Game Consoles and a few others have no minimum.
Individual or Professional plan?
The Individual plan costs $0.99 per item sold; the Professional plan $39.99 a month, whatever you sell. Above about 40 items sold a month, Professional costs less.
